From your host

Thank you for taking the time to read through all of the information about the market. Here’s a little about me. My name is Mellisa Wilkins and I’m co-ordinating and managing the market. I am also a maker. My brand is called Salt Lobster Goods, I design and hand-make women’s accessories and home goods. I live right in Freeport, pretty much a stones throw from where the store is located.  Opening a collective makers space has been a dream for many years. My hope is that I can forward the mission to bring to more local makers the opportunity to sell on the same level as big box brands, by taking advantage of the unique opportunity we have in this high traffic/visible location.

I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with many different groups to bring this idea to life, there’s been umpteen meetings and phone calls and lunches with a whole group of amazing people that have collectively propelled this project forward.  This is hopefully the first step on the road to a much bigger project for makers in Maine. Thank you to Freeport Village Station, Maine Craft Association, Chip at Harraseeket Inn, MOFGA, Visit Freeport & The Town of Freeport for your support of and various partnerships in this project.

I’m really hoping we can build a community of makers here and that each and every one will feel like it’s their space, and that we can work together to make this season a huge success! The bigger a success this is, the more likely it is that we carve out a little space in Freeport for ourselves.

Sincerely,

 Mellisa Wilkins
